Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would be moving to a foreign country to live, let alone a country in the Middle East. Over the 2009 Christmas and New Year’s holidays, my husband Roger and I discussed what we wanted the next part of our life to be like. He thought that before retiring, he would like to do one more airport project but only if he could find something very interesting. I half-jokingly agreed that would be fine but could he try for an exotic location? As usual, Roger came through and soon we were headed to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. This blog is a recap of our "leap-of- faith" wanderings around the Middle East and beyond. We joyfully share these expat experiences.

The Top 7 Things on Baby Boomers’ Minds

This week the  the Boomer Bloggers weigh in on seven important topics: building bonds with grandchildren; outsourcing your job search; if the world ends in three weeks what's on your to do list; the dilemma of free speech; a "Regal Experience" in India; the latest tech scams; and a yummy question, "Is ice cream ever out of season?" Enjoy!

For this, the first full week back to school and work, the Accidental Locavore is hosting the Blogging Boomers Carnival.

See what’s on the minds of Baby Boomers worldwide (yup, that’s right). Don’t forget to chime in, comment and let us know which postings touched you.

First up: Grandparents can play a vital role in today’s families.SoBabyBoomer asks, “How do you build closer bonds across the generations in your family?” John has some great ideas to bring the generations closer together. Be sure to check them out.

Tired of job hunting? The unemployed are outsourcing their job hunting.  Read more at Vaboomer.com. What do you think of this idea?
Can you imagine the traffic? The Midlife Crisis Queen, Laura Lee, would like to encourage you to imagine if the world was going to end in 3 weeks. What would quickly rise to the top of your “to do” list? It’s sort of like a midlife crisis with a very strict deadline!
Tom Sightings had a interesting conversation with his friend Peter about what he did last week — one that involved the limits of freedom of speech. See if you agree with the outcome. What would you have done?
Accidental Locavore IndiaArabian Tales Katie Foster relishes her “Regal Experience” at the Oberoi Udaivilas during her Elegant Journey through India. See what happens after she’s showered with rose petals (hint, there’s a private pool and a butler).
On The Survive and Thrive Boomer Guide, Rita R. Robison, consumer journalist, wrote about the latest high-tech scams. Watch out for companies that offer to remove the computer virus they found for $100; tell you to start bidding to win an iPad; or offer special coupons for high-priced products such as razors, pet food, diapers, infant formula, coffee, and restaurant meals. Important information for all of us!
Is ice cream ever out of season? The Accidental Locavore makes some delicious ricotta ice cream. Turns out it’s easier than making plain vanilla. Here’s the recipe, give it a try!
